In the novel Night, the Jews were sent off to the concentration camps. They were treated like prisoners. Article five of “Defense of Human Rights” it states that no one shall be tortured or be apart of any kind of cruel punishments. Victims of the Holocaust were forced to work and if they did not work, they would die. On page 37 of Night, it states “Not far from us, prisoners were at work.” Article four states that no one shall be held in slavery. The Jews were treated like slaves. The kids did not get to go to school and they killed the newborn babies. Article two says that everyone is entitled to all the nights and freedoms, such as religion. The Jews did not get their freedom, because Hitler despised the Jews. On page ten-eleven it says “Jews were hence forth forbidden to own gold, jewelry,or any …show more content…

In Article 17 of “Universal Declaration of Human Rights” it also says that “No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property”. On page 29 it states, “The beloved objects that we had carried with us from place to place were now left behind in the wagon…” They were dehumanized, because almost all of their human rights were violated. They were forced to work, they were punished, had their religion stripped from them, they were not protected. On page 11 the book states “The barbed wire that encircled us like a wall did not fill us with real fear.” All humans deserve their rights, because everyone deserves to be treated equal. If no one had human rights then people could treat other people however they wanted to. A lot of people could get hurt. No person should be stripped of their rights.
