What is Quality Patient Care: Defining what quality patient care is to me is not something that can be done in a few sentences. My interpretation may be different than others because I have been a patient many times. Being a caregiver now has given me a different outlook on what my definition of what quality patient care is. Quality patient care is provided when the person providing the care thinks of themselves as a caregiver not a service provider. The patient’s unique needs must be met and they must be informed. The safety of the patient is of the upmost importance, but showing concern for their concerns is important as well. A patient should never have to worry about their safety when being in a hospital setting. Safety is low on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, and the needed to give the patient quality care. Keeping the patient safe only requires taking little precautions. Some of these little precautions include being aware of how well a patient can walk or move. They also, include moving patients in a safe manner and using guard rails properly. Asking for assistance in moving or monitoring patients is an easy way to ensure patient safety. Providing quality patient care does not stop at keeping them save. It is important to think of yourself as a caregiver and not a service provider. You are there to provide care to the patient in whatever way that benefits them. I think that sometimes hospital workers get so task orientated that they forget about providing care to the patient.
