Defining the Scientific Method and Its 5 Renowned Steps
As human being, we ritually inquire about an abundance of things, big and small. A lot of us are extremely curious when it comes to issues dealing with our planet, the impact that we have on it, the challenges that it face such as pollution or climate change, and how it inedibly affects us. Other individuals may inquire about our society and its various obstacles such as starvation, homelessness, job availability, crime rates, political factors, inequalities and privileges, and several others. These are the types of intriguing topics that generally require the need for careful research and observation. These topics and several others can be analyzed and better perceived by using the

A good hypothesis is not only testable, but it also can be used to make a predictions on future observations by other researchers. The fourth step of the scientific method involves two parts. The first part of this step is to select a research design. A research design is a detailed plan or method for obtaining data scientifically, and it purpose is to assist researchers in effectively coordinating, collecting, and analyzing data (McGraw-Hill, 2018). The choosing and preparation of your research design is a critical factor of the scientific method because it allows you to test your hypothesis, analyze your data, and either satisfy or contradict your research objective. There are different research designs to consider when attempting to obtain data, so you should carefully choose a design that would grant you the most trustworthy and impartial results. Surveys, ethnographic research, experiments, and the use of existing resources are a few examples you could choose from. After choosing the best possible research design, you can proceed to the second part of this step, collect and analyze data. Your research should always include data so you can determine if the experiment was effective. You …show more content…
You should also notate whether or not your experiment supported your hypothesis. In your conclusion, you should also state how the dependent variable was effected by the independent variable and to what extent. You should document any and all findings from your research. Sometimes, your predicted hypothesis may not be support. If your hypothesis was not supported, you should communicate your results from the experiment and then go back and consider formulating a new hypothesis including the new knowledge that you’ve just gained. If your hypothesis was supported, you should still go back and repeat the experiment and see if you could duplicate the process and results. This helps us to show reliability and validity in our experimental research. The scientific method is an extremely powerful and recognized tool that helps researchers to solve problems and determine answers to questions in a logical and unbiased format. It provides a step-by-step, guide to help us work through problems and achieve results. It provides an objective, standardized approach to conducting experiments and, in doing so, improves their results. By using the scientific method, researcher can feel confident that they
