Fear
Think of something you are the most scared of. Everyone is afraid of something whether the fear is something as weird as the fear of the belly button (omphalophobia) or something as usual as of a fear of heights. Not everyone needs a psychologist to help people with their fears. We all have fears. But why are we scared of them? In the general public today, there are three main things that drive people’s fears One of the reasons people are afraid of things is that it can kill them. Snakes are a prime example of this because they are top of the food chain. Meaning they are pretty good at killing people. One way a snake can kill people is when a snake constricts over a person's body and slowly tightening around a person, killing them.

The media has highly affected people's views on why things are scary. Movies are one source of media that inflicts views on to people. . “It’s just a movie” is a common phrase because people get affected by what the movies plot and have to remind themselves that it isn’t real. The movie It made people fear clowns more than they did before. Not a lot of people watch children get murdered repeatedly and are less scared of the thing that does the killing, in this case it was the clowns. Jaws is a good example, too. A person doesn’t watch a movie with an epic man versus nature scenario, where the men in the movie almost die and don’t second guess going into the ocean with a little bit of fear. Social media also affects people more that it should. The common person will use social media as a source for real news. There are some things in social media that are seriously blown out of proportion. Last year there were people going outside to shoot some killer clowns. A lot of people were terrified to go to school because they didn't know if the killer clowns were lurking around the corner. Diseases are always around the corner too, according to Social media, a lot of people thought they were going to get Ebola and die a couple years ago from 2014-2016. Even though there were only four reported cases that got to The United States. This just goes to show the amount of power that Social Media has on people. Another media form that affects people are television shows. There are a lot of crime shows and crime fiction television shows. These television shows portray that crime is everywhere, murderers are everywhere, and people do not know what is safe. It makes sense because most of the crime shows have upwards of six seasons and have about 12 episodes per season so using those averaged statistics, the writers come up with 72 episodes of something awful happening. If you are able to think about it, than it has the possibility of it happening.
