What do I picture when I think of the word house? I see a three story brick row home with a black door located at 819 Almond Street. April of 2001 is the year my family and I moved into our home. This is the first house of ours that I remember. By definition, “house” means a building for human habitation, especially one that is lived in by a family or small group of people. In my opinion, a house is more than just a habitation. I believe a house is a place for people to grow, feel safe, and feel comfortable. A home is a place where a person develops and grows. A home is where a person’s family grows with them. A family is a group of people who love one another. A family keeps each other safe.
The living room is the first room I see when I enter the house. There are comfortable tan couches, a giant comfy chair, and two colorful throw rugs that cover the bare cherry wood floor. The two front windows bring in light and warmth from the sun. The sun brings in energy. Home is my comfort zone. Whenever I am home, my mind is at ease. I think a big part of a home is that I can find my identity. It is important to be in a safe place so one can learn from the good people around her and learn how to keep others safe. Growing up with my family, I learned to love others, help other who are in need and to care for everyone. My family taught me how to keep others safe and I am thankful that I have such a good family to teach me how to be a good person. Home is often associated with parents, siblings, pets, warmth and comfort. "Home is where you feel at home and are treated well” (Student Academy, 2014). This quote describes my house because my family always treats each other well. After all, home is where the heart
