There is no one way to describe what the word “art” is. Respectively, the dictionary provides a rather bland and unemotional description of what the word actually means to millions of people around the world. “The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.” Art is present within many forms, not limited to strictly tangible. Much of society believes that art is plainly a recreational hobby to occupy one's free time. Yet no one recognizes how many lives have been saved from this small three letter word with an overwhelming meaning. Take a look around the city you grew up in, paintings are plastered everywhere on the side of buildings, these all are depicting areas of their lives, every piece with a personal meaning. Art cannot tell you what to do, but it certainly makes you feel something. Those feelings conveyed are what make art a universal language that anyone can understand, and the most beautiful part is that a piece of artwork can make every single person feel a completely different way. Yes, personally art is a very fun class, but not one to be taken lightly, it's for the passionate, the talented, the adventurous students who wish to explore all the possibilities that arts have to offer. The arts for students act almost as a safe haven, they are free to express themselves in any way possible, which in high school, is definitely not the easiest. However, this isn’t just for high school students, art is for anyone that can escape reality through picking up a pencil, or creating your own lyrics. Art is a way to show absolutely anything, from your hurt, to your happy, all the way to your outlook on life. This is why we need art in our lives, because without music what would we listen to with our friends riding down the road, without paintings or drawings how we ever see anything so moving.
