It Is Inner Beauty that Counts Inner beauty is something that can be experienced through a person’s characteristics other than appearances. The definition of inner beauty goes far beyond what eyes can say from the outside. It has a wide range including being considerate and warm-hearted to others, having confidence and self-esteem which is support by capability, and holding positive energy towards life. In a word, inner beauty is too essential to be ignored in the modern society. However, a disappointing truth about the beauty is that people nowadays regard outside beauty as what beauty is supposed to mean. Inner beauty can deeply influence a person, it also has the power to correct the social climate. People should realize that it is what is on the inside that counts. If a person’s look cannot catch others’ eyes, they will not bother to read his mind. Various studies have claimed that the ones with a charming face and slim body often earn more at similar positions than the ordinary looking and overweight ones (Fox, 1997). This opinion stresses that the outside impression can be so crucial, that we usually decide whether or not we are willing to know a person more by judging his appearance. However, you only notice a person’s figure for temporary, it is irrational to take the inner beauty into second consideration or even overlook it. Although few women will appreciate what Oprah Winfrey looks like, almost everyone admires her excellent competence, tough will and the smart mind which brought her wealth and fame. On the contrary, those who have plastic surgeries to keep the temporary beauty but never think about developing inside are rather woefully.
