Delaney Mossbacher Character Traits

Reading The Tortilla Curtain the first thing I noticed was the personality trait of the character Delaney Mossbacher. We can determine these traits by the actions that are described that the character took in the situation he was in. Another thing I noticed was that Delaney Mossbacher expresses particular values on many occasions and at points will behave differently or opposite to those values of his personality traits. Because the character has expresses these particular values I was able to ask the question why the character says or does a certain thing and those also lead to the speculations about the causes of behavior, its motivation , and its effects. The first thing I noticed was Delaney Mossbacher's personality trait, the first personality trait that I caught wasn't really a positive one. Delaney was in an accident he had hit a person while driving and the first thing that came to his head after the whole incident was if his car had been damaged badly. I think that shows a personality trait of him being selfish because Delaney cares more about his car then a human being that he could have possibly killed or severely injured. While reading towards the beginning of the first chapter and reading more into the book Delaney seemed inconstant on if he felt guilty or not of the accident. After realizing that instead of worrying about his car Delaney started to wonder about the person he hit and of course if the person was okay, where the person was, or if the person was alive or dead. And at the same time it hit him that he could have killed or injured a person and all the negative things were coming in his head. But then he begins to question why did the person throw themselves in front of the car and how it wasn't his fault and basically if he should search for the person or
