Demeter, daughter of Cronus and Ceres, was the Goddess of the Corn. She was the older, as was natural. Demeter’s field of grain was hallowed, she wasn't like the others gods that sacrifices men, but in every meek act that made the farm high-yielding. She also had her chief festival where it took in the month of September, which it only came every five years, but it lasted for nine days, in the great temple at Eleusis. When the parade took place, sacrifices were held with dances and songs. But very little is notice of the festival because all of those who beheld it were bound by a vow of silence.
