This year in my DIM class I had the option to choose between different graphic designers. I choose Paul Rand because I was intrigued by his passion at a young age. He had little to no experience when he first began, yet that did not stop him from achieving what he had set his mind on for he was very dedicated on his life goals.
Paul Rand was born on August 15, 1914 in Brooklyn, New York. Despite the fact that he had cancer he was a survivor by not only living for what he wanted to become, yet for accomplishing it and never giving up on his profession and the love for being a graphic designer. Paul Rand was one of three kids, his older sister Ruth and his twin brother Phillip. His father Itzhak Yehunda was an immigrant from Galicia, Poland, and his mother Leah, from Brooklyn. His father ran his own convenient store while his mother worked long hours running a neighborhood grocery store. His twin brother Phillip was a musician that passed away in his early years, twenty to be exact, he was involved in an automobile accident on his way to a job in Catskills magazine. Paul later became one of the most experienced and well known men of graphic designing in the world. His occupation was a graphic designer and art director. Paul Rand is best known for his corporate logo designs such as; IBM, UPS, ABC, and Steve Jobs Next and the list goes on. He was the first American to embrace and practice the Swiss styles of graphic design. Paul was also inducted in New York Art Director Club Hall Of Fame, back in 1972. Were he won an award for his great art work.
In Jewish traditions you are to be loyal to your God and just like in any other religion not have any God before them. Being raised as a Jewish was problematic in Paul since he was raised as a Jewish. It was against their religion to create images that will be worship late on. He not only drew pictures that people later enjoyed but he created a whole new style making it seem in to the Jewish as a God. Thus creating a problem in his life but he did not stop at any
