In the book The Hate You Give" by Angie Thomas, pages 420–444 are about Starr, King, and Maverick,Hailey. They just got done protesting after the grand jury did not put the cop on trial for killing Kahlil. While Starr was protesting, looters started destroying all the shops in the neighborhood, including her dad’s shop. (419) This caused King to be arrested because the neighborhood teamed up blaming King for burning down Maverick's shop.
Katherena Vermette’s novel The Break, is centered around a sexual assault. Through the perspective of eight narrators the story unfolds over the day leading up to the attack, memories triggered by the assault, and the recovery of all those involved. The novel’s two strongest themes are a juxtaposition of gender disparity and the strength and resilience of the women and girls involved. Gendered performance is common throughout the book, for both men and women, although the focus is on the female characters.

She didn’t want to die the weak way by continuing with her addiction problem, so she decided to stop taking the pills. After a while of her slowly stopping to take them she got used to being free from them and beat her addiction before she died.

In many ways there are many children that had grown up with being abused either mostly verbally or physically. Although she does not write all her songs, the clear majority that she does write “tell a story, and have a certain uniqueness about them (Bio). Underwood then went on the explain that she strives for her songs to resemble minute movies on the radio, and compared them to short movies that have a storyline to them (Bio). Not only does she aim for her songs to be relatable, but she also stems her songs from her own personal experiences. For example, her hit song “Heartbeat” was based on experiences she has with her husband and was intended to express it through the emotional content of the song. The singer explained, I don’t typically do very many love songs, but when we were writing ‘Heartbeat,’ there was something so real about it” (Bio).

With channels airing each of their popular television shows at a certain time, some people found it hard to catch their shows on time due to work and their busy schedules. She uses a metaphor in her song to reveal that no matter what, she will get back up again stronger than ever. In her song, after she feels sad, she says “I will be rising from the ground” (line 12). This is saying that she is getting past her tough times in her life and is finally becoming stronger again and will enlighten people that she will never give up. Moving on, Lovato uses allusion to relate to her theme, she says “All my windows still are broken But I'm standing on my feet” (line 18 and 19). This shows how Lovato is like glass because she was dropped in her past and never recovered, and still is broken, however, she can still handle it due to her strength of believing in herself.
