Abstract
The title of this article was Democracy and the Road to Tyranny. This article talks about modern democracy and determines whether it is an effective barrier to tyranny. Democracy defines itself as the system of government in which its people have the power to decide on legislation and elect representatives to pass it. It also talks about the two types of democracy which are direct and indirect democracy. There are strong and weak points that were discussed.
In the States that were under democracy the distinction between the rulers and the ruled became blurred. People somehow use democracy to have a greater power to voice out what they wanted. Tyranny is cruel and oppressive government or rule. A government that is cruel, severe, and unfair, in which one person or a small number of individuals has authority over everyone else, is what we call a tyranny. Democracy is such a valued institution that many people attribute much of the world's prosperity and stability to it. Many people assume that democracy serves as a successful obstacle to the emergence of harsh governments, but is this true, or does democracy foster the rise of tyranny. In democratic society the people engage in making their and shaping their own future. They participate in the decision making of the future and the nation’s priorities. This article also talks about the types of democracy which are direct and indirect democracy. The difference between the two is that direct democracy entails people voting on specific matters via referendum, whereas indirect democracy reduces the amount of power entrusted in the people. Democracy’s weak points are through misunderstanding and misuse of the word to represent one’s freedom. People thought that democracy was freedom itself. Nearly all politicians on earth declare their support towards freedom and democracy but the issue is that so few of them can tell the difference between the two (Call, 2021). Another thing is in the

political view due to democracy those who are in the position can change in just a click based on democratic sayings of the society. It can be used as political competition for those who are in positions. It can also lead to delays that need the opinions of society sometimes. An additional weakness of democracy is less efficiency that it makes slow decisions because the decision comes from everybody (Javatpoint, n.d.). It takes time for the discussion to produce the results.
Everybody’s voice must be heard. States that were under democracy the distinction between the rulers and the ruled become blurred.
According to Javatpoint, the strength of democracy is that it promotes equality. It protects the citizens. It makes the citizen involved in the decision making. According to
