Denis Diderot was born in Langres, France on October 5, 1713. In his life he was a philosopher, a writer, and art critic. His primary accomplishment is major contributions to the Encyclopedia. He also has published a decent amount of books. Some of Diderot's major accomplishments include: The Encyclopedia, Rameau's Nephew, Skeptics Walk, Letter of the Blind, Jacques the Fatalist, The Illegitimate Son, The Father of the Fatalist, Plan of a University for the Government of Russia, Essay on the Life of Senacca, and On the Mind. His five biggest accomplishments include, The Encyclopedia, Rameau's Nephew, him becoming a librarian under the hand of Catherine the Great, Essay on the Life of Seneca, and being born. For example he complains about people he used to work with such as, La Mettrie, Jean Jacques-Rousseau and a few others. He also talks about life in Seneca obviously and some other historical points. From what I have gathered his book, “Rameau's Nephew” is by far his most known and widespread. The book is a so called “battle” between Diderot and the famous composers Jean Francois Rameau's nephew. The battle is just a battle of wits and intelligence. The too argue over topics and even at one point have an opera battle. Now if that isn't a literary masterpiece I don't know what is. In Diderot’s old life he became a librarian under the rule of Catherine the Great, the ruler of Russia. Throughout his life he had always never had a steady income and with this job he had an annual salary so i’m sure that helped out. During this time he also wrote (Catherine the Great requested him to) Plan of a University for the Government of Russia. Now, I haven't necessarily found a page on it but from my understanding it was kind of like a guideline of some sort for a certain part of the government
