A deep dental cleaning is the term for the removal of accumulated plaque and tartar that has formed around the base of your teeth and along the gun lines. This dental technique is also known as non-surgical periodontal therapy. A complete dental deep cleaning is done in four sections, referred to as quadrants, which involves the upper right and left sides, and the lower right and left sides. Depending on the amount of plaque and tartar to be removed during the scaling and the root smoothing process, each quadrant may require 45 minutes or more to complete.
