Instead of focusing on the topic of African American plantation slavery, Ira Berlin decides to focus on an earlier time period, starting as early as the fourteen hundreds, and to look at a broader geography, looking at Africa as well as America. He discusses the development and the success of the Atlantic creoles, or “the charter generation,” by looking at the place and time of the societies as well as the creoles’ history. Noted that there is no way to predict or ultimately guarantee that 100% of juveniles sent to prison are new and refined citizens of society by the time that they are released. But the states should not forbid someone, let alone a teenager, the chance to prove that they can be a greater individual for themselves and for the public. This also gives the public the ability to not only heal but to possibly forgive the juvenile for the crimes that they have committed and accept them back into their community. To support this the Court claims that when an individual, especially a teenager, receives a sentence of life without parole, it numbs their humanity. It diminishes the chance for the youth to reform in any positive way because they lack the hope to continue with their lives.

For centuries, slavery has long been the subject of intense controversy and the primary victim of sectionalism that separated the North and the South in the United States. Following the American Revolution, the new union was divided between the south, which was economically reliant on slavery and the north, where slavery was not important. Abraham Lincoln summed up his prediction of possible consequences of the current state of the union as he said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand." In the south, slavery became a distinctive way of well being and a strong source of prosperity.
Following the period of Exploration, explorers discovered new lands rich with resources such as gold, silver, and other precious materials that needed to be mined, and crops that needed to be farmed. However, workers who could perform these tasks were scarce. The Native American population had been killed by disease and war, and the colonists weren’t often willing to do this labor. Fortunately for the European colonists, they had access for a convenient and inexpensive labor market via the means of African Slave Trade.

It's important to not only show the plantations of hundreds of slaves forced to work against their will but also the inhumane treatment, and the mental and physical abuse they endured. The film accomplished its overall goal of opening the viewer treatment slaves faced. From when Esther was raped by a white man, to when Nat found that Cherry had been attacked and assaulted by a group of men. The film did an amazing job portraying emotions through the character's facial expressions, as well as the music and color choices in specific scenes. The humiliation and shame Esther felt were heartbreaking to watch and the music and dark colors in the scene made the time even sadder and more impactful.
In this movie, you see the life style on being a slave. Solomon Northup was a free man that was kidnapped and was traded off in the slave trade and endured the life style of a slave. There is a scene in the movie where he is building a house and the white man comes and tells him he is wrong and tells him to rip his clothes off so he can be whipped. Solomon refuse and takes a stand knowing that it is wrong he took a stand for what he though was right. This movie was primarily made to show the harsh conditions that they had to go thought but also an insider some of the slaves that made a stand.
Gaining new friends is important and the program suggests that church could be a good place to gaining these new friends. The bottom line is the inmate’s overall willingness to change and not pretending to change in order to receive parole. The focus of the program Life after Prison was on a select group of people that were either in prison or that were out, however, the content did present some key issues that are related to American corrections. The first issue that can relate is one that is always in the forefront of corrections is funding.
So there ways many ways that the Nazi’s treated the Jews and did medical experiments to find out the best way to torture people and the best way to treat wounds that they get in battle or if they get sick. So one of the many things they did was freeze/hypothermia experiments. The experiments were conducted to men to simulate the conditions the armies suffered on the Eastern Front. The German forces were ill prepared for the bitter cold. Thousands of German soldiers died of freezing or were debilitated by cold injuries.
Life after incarceration, here today gone tomorrow. 95% of adults sentenced to prison will return to our communities, and reentry will be their first step back into society. Imagine have a thousand questions flooding one’s mind all at once. Where will I live, how will I survive, and contribute to the family, while maintaining to the stipulations of one’s parole/ probation, without risking freedom. The number one goal for those newly released back into society by way of the reentry program is to never return to the inside of a prison cell.
Have you ever wondered how life was for the slaves in the South? Slaves in the South suffered through many consequences. For example, they suffered through many whippings with cow skin if they didn't obey their master, they also got separated from their family mostly the fathers, so, they can be sold to a very mean slave owner. Even if they were living a miserable life on the farms, they had their own culture and they managed to even get married in the farmland or where they worked. Not only did the slaves live on the farm.
How big of impact could slavery have done to Africa at least that’s what they said? The slave trade had huge and horrible impact on Africa because it resulted in a tremendous loss of life, Africa has not developed economically as a result of the Slave trade, and Africa still suffers and is unable to provide food and water for its people. Africa had a huge loss of people but to be exact “nearly 90 percent of the Africans in these two major regions came from only four zones in Africa. ”(“The Transatlantic Slave Trade”, para 48) all had to go even against their will 10 million enslaved men, women, and children from West and East Africa to North Africa, the Middle East, and India.
