Jonathan Edwards version of God was very aggressive and unforgiving. Insult after continuing insult, this does not seem like the Jesus Christ with the wonderful forgiving spirit. With the words, “God hates you,” repeated multiple times throughout the sermon, it is truly hypocritical that the God described as forgiving and loving of all would say “I hate you,” every five minutes. I personally feel like this is not the way God would like to be described, and that God would much rather liked to be showed as a forging and gentle spirit.
Descartes writes that as we were created in God’s image, we are “something intermediate between God and nothingness, or between supreme being and non-being” (38). As Descartes states that we are imperfect beings, we will undoubtedly have defects (37). These defects reside in our faculty of knowledge, our intellect, and the faculty of choice, our will (39). The intellect allows us to perceive and understand ideas and the will simply consisting of the ability to affirm, deny, pursue or avoid a choice (39). Believing that the source of human error was due to the varying scope of our will and intellect, Descartes explains how as God’s intellect is infinite, he can always will what is “Good” due to knowing everything (39).
Unit 2: EA2 Argumentative Essay Reflection What I feel I did well on this argumentative essay was my research. I had many sources that provided me with facts and statistics and they helped me to decide what side I was on. There were many sources that I did not use but that I had read through. What I struggled with was commentary.
When first entering the restaurant, the distinct smells of fajitas and fresh tortilla chips invites people to their tables. The forever salsa stained menus offer a wide variety of options to choose from, at a cheap affordable price. The mediocre Mexican restaurant is located along San Jose Blvd. and is surrounded by large family communities. This restaurant attempts to deliver their customers a taste of authentic Mexican food.
In the novel “The Night Trilogy” by Elie Wiesel a positive character is Tibi and Yossi. They are supportive and calm young siblings from Czechoslovakia who take care of each other profoundly. During the deportation of the Jews, their parents were killed in Birkenau, they were deported into a concentration camp and yet tobi and yossi still have the strength to keep going on. As kids they should be playing around in a back yard using their creativity, imagination, not wondering whether todays their last day to live.

The bronze figure is indicative of West Virginia’s gun culture. As is the state flag — which features two firearms — and West Virginia University’s mascot, the musket-toting Mountaineer.
When I out grew my Shetland pony, my mother and I decided it was time to start looking for a horse for me to continue my riding career on. We had no idea at that time, that horse would be a starving, broke to only the basics, and a recent failure of a pre-purchase veterinarian exam, due to an injury to his fetlock. When we went to meet Hank, who was eventually renamed to Juble, I knew immediately that he was the horse for me, my mom wasn’t as convinced. Much like myself, my mom has a huge heart for animals, especially the ones in harmful environments, which means after minimal begging, she agreed to purchase Juble. This began the long process of helping him put on more weight, helping his swollen fetlock heal, and gaining his trust.
Descartes gave a few arguments that God exists and is real. Desocrates believed our idea of God is that God is a perfect being, he believed he is more perfect to exist than not to exist. Desocrates also believed that God is a infinite being. Descartes idea would be that God gave us this idea to type this paragraph about him so he must be real. When he thinks negative of an idea or thought he wonders if an evil demon plotted those thoughts.
Descartes states with clarity that it does not seem possible for him to “to discover the [impenetrable] purposes of God” due to being in a state that does not reach God’s infinity (111). Being in a realm where nothingness does promote error, it is plausible that we have yet to acclaim knowledge or a true source that could help us understand God’s reasons behind our imperfect creation. Descartes narrows down the central concept to two faculties: the power of knowing (intellect) and the power of choice (free will). He understands that free will is the known infinite faculty, so our intellect is what determines our state of finity. Our knowledge is limited in comparison to God, and because of it, we are unable to give our full judgement to what God has committed because we do not understand its purpose in relation to its function in the world.
Descartes declares he has to determine if there is a God and if he does exist, whether he can be a deceiver. The reason he has to determine the existence of God and what he is, rests in his theories of ideas. This is because we do not know if there is an outside world and we can almost imagine everything, so all depends on God’s existence and if he is a deceiver. “To prove that this non-deceiving God exists, Descartes finds in his mind a few principles he regards as necessary truths which are evident by the “natural light” which is the power or cognitive faculty for clear and distinct perception.” If arguments is presented in logical trains of thought, people could not help but to be swayed and to understand those arguments.
Existence is something that can be imagined and therefore is false and a fallacy. How does Descartes really know he exists maybe he is just imaging it all and that his premises behind the existence of God are fake as well. If someone exist then they must have been born which would mean that Descartes parents where the ones who brought him into existence, and their parents brought them in to existence and so on and so on. This would mean that God did not create Descartes existence but that someone way far down the chain of human existence started it
Since the beginning of time man has been headstrong and egotistical leading to struggles with other people. In Edgar Allen Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado," Montresor makes it known to the readers that his friend Fortunato has done wrong against him many times. Montresor decides that he has had enough and tricks the drunk Fortunato into following him into the catacombs. Montresor chains Fortunato to the wall and buries him alive. Based on his actions we can tell that Montresor is full of revenge because he plots to kill his own friend.
“And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2) Maybe it’s procrastination, perhaps it’s not listening to your parents, or it might be it’s a friend who negatively influences you. Every person struggles with something, but there is hope. You have a loving God who desires to help you.
Has the liberal arts education route become the Penicillin of the higher education realm? Proceeding from redundancy, this presupposed broad-spectrum choice of study has been around for quite some time. Potentially, it can be inferred that the liberal arts have been around at least since the days of Plato, who so eloquently promoted his humble yet satirical opinion of government. Perhaps, this was the genesis of the liberalists. Despite its perceived ostensible success, the liberal arts have indubitably received some hate mail.
The next step that Descartes uses in the second meditation is the existence of this Godly figure. He questions his own beliefs with that of the God, and argues that a mind should be capable of thinking for them to be of existence, “Is there not some God, or some other being by whatever name we call it, which puts these reflections into my mind? That is not necessary, for is it not possible that I am capable of producing them myself?” He then puts forward that for one to be deceived by this “evil demon” as he describes it, they have to exist to be deceived.
