There has been a lifetime of examples like this from other pets that show that, although not verbal, animals can and do communicate and act with autonomy in profound and meaningful ways, which raises’ the question of the moral implications of domesticating or caging
In the book, “Crabs Dig Holes According to Size of Their Shells” by James McPherson He talks about his ‘shell” which is his room, and crabs which is himself. The story is mostly about him being alone and him seeming like he is sad about something in life, which brings me to my thought of what his message is. My thought of his message is McPherson’s message is that at one point in life you are going to hit a low in life then develop a shell you want to hide in. My first quote is “Something was denying me peace because I was denying it from range and meaning” To paraphrase the quote the keywords are deny, peace and something. In the quote the word deny means that he is denying his own peace by something in life.
When Reamer hears about Isaac Witte’s case, which he was committed for assaulting another man nearly killing him, he was intrigued because he saw the love and affection Witte’s was giving his dog. One of the programs in prison is an organization called the National Education for Assistance Dog Services or NEADS where inmates get a chance to train puppies for people with different disabilities. Witte’s had been in that program for over three years, training three dogs in his sentence. Reamer’s evaluation on Witte’s performances with the puppies displayed goodness and reflected compassion that Reamer recognized and wanted to see from him. In Witte’s hearing, he states that the program has helped him learn to be sympathetic towards others and to learn to actually care about someone in a way that is kind.
By doing this, it makes his final statements all the more effective and thought-provoking since the audience is subconsciously making the connection between how dogs should be treated as food and how other animals are currently being treated as food. Yet, he hides this connection under the guise of a harmless argument for the consumption of dogs, making his final argument a realization, of sorts, for the reader. The sudden shift of focus from
The movie Blackfish is a documentary about Orca whales and their abhorrent treatment throughout SeaWorld’s history, detailing how the whales should be freed from their enclosures and sent back into the oceans where they belong to protect not only themselves, but to the trainers and visitors of SeaWorld as well. Blackfish revolves around one Orca named Tilikum, at 12,000 pounds he was the dominant one at SeaWorld. However, Tilikum’s public murder of three trainers changed the way people looked at SeaWorld. Director Gabriela Cowperthwaite released a documentary in 2013 titled Blackfish detailing SeaWorld’s horrific treatment of its marine animals, especially the Orcas, in captivity. Ms. Cowperthwaite’s vision of Blackfish entailed “reaching
By blurring the line between animals and humans, Foer attempts to persuade readers to treat animals like
Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” Poet Mark Doty shares this sentiment in his piece “A Green Crab’s Shell” which explores the theme of death through an abandoned carapace of a small sea creature. Doty employs evocative imagery, colorful detail, and fragmented structure in his poem to portray death as an opportunity to be reflective on one’s life. In investigating the small shell, Doty shows the beauty of what one leaves behind, far after their death, no matter how insignificant or short their life might have seemed.

Everything will be Okay Every character in a story has feelings. Sometimes, those feeling or emotions shape who the character is and how they act. This is the case in the story “Everything will be Okay,” by James Howe.
A feral child is a referred to a human child who has been isolated from human contact and has had minimal human contact from a very young age, and has minimal or no human care, loving or social behaviour, and crucially of human language (Keith, 2008). The behavioural development of a feral child illustrates abnormalities of its basic process, biological, person and socio-cultural behaviours. Oxana Malaya, also known as ‘The Dog Girl’ portrayed abnormal characteristics. Oxana’s case demonstrates her strange behaviour caused my nurture.
Marine organisms are animals, plants, and other living things that live in the ocean. A Marine biologist is a scientist who studies marine organisms and studies the bodies, behavior, and the history of marine organisms. They also study how marine organisms interact with each other and their environment. I have chosen to research about Marine biology because I would like to learn about sea life, the ocean, and its surrounding environment. To start off, a Marine biologist might study coral, crabs, fish, microscopic marine organisms, sea stars, seaweed, squid, or whales.
But, because of her innocent and naïve nature, her trust is again betrayed by the antagonist of the story, Mr Grey. One day, as the rest of the Grey’s family is out of town, Mr Grey and his friends bring Aileen’s puppy to his laboratory and performed an experiment. “…they took the puppy to the laboratory, and I limped three-leggedly along, too, feeling proud, for any attention shown the puppy was a pleasure to me…” She misunderstands that these men are going to cause harm to her pup, so when they do she is so naïve and trusting that she thinks everything is still alright. “he patted my head, and there were tears in his eyes, and he said, "Poor little doggie, you SAVED his child”.
