Some are affected by gaiety, others by melancholy, but all are more or less touched.” Insanity is most commonly understood and used in a negative manner to call someone mentally ill or most of the times, mad. Whereas, insanity can also be used to refer to a person who is very much so irrational and unusual in their thinking patterns. Creativity on the other hand is the ability to generate something new and useful and also to basically have the ability to think outside the box. There is a very fine line between creativity and insanity that has for long fascinated the human race and only a very small group of people called the schizotypes are able to walk this fine line with no difficulty and even benefit from it.
Parallels have been created to connect creativity to major mental disorders including bipolar disorder, depression, schizophrenia, anxiety etc. and a major part of this is based of anecdotal evidence and correlational studies.
