Skip Hollandsworth’s “Toddlers in Tiaras” argues the negative effects of participating in beauty pageants for young girls. Hollandsworth supported his argument through the use of the following techniques: narratives, testimonies, logical reasoning, appeals to emotion, facts, and an objective tone that attempts to give him credibility. These techniques are used to help persuade his audience of the exploitation of young girls in beauty pageants and the negative effects that pageants will have on their lives. Hollandsworth begins his article with how a typical beauty pageant runs and describes the multiple steps Eden Wood, a pageant contestant, goes through in order to get ready for a competition (490).
The Mall Personal Response In “The Mall”, Alan Brinkley discusses the growth and popularity of malls and shopping centers internationally over time. Brinkley talks about shopping districts and how they were a community shopping and entertainment center for diverse families and teens to enjoy themselves. Although the first mall opened in 1924, this statement is still true to many people ‘til this day. Throughout high school, my friends and I would hang out at the mall and eat at the food court.

As I walk through the mall, I see a diverse community of people coming together; hence, the mall stays crowded even on weekdays. Age groups from teenagers to elderly people swarm all around the elegant mall, but why? Lenox appeals to each age group with desired stores, for example, a teenager loves to shop at Hollister, Abercrombie or American Eagle while an older shopper may go to Brooks Brothers, Banana Republic, or Anthropologie. In addition, not only does Lenox offer a wide variety of stores, but also Lenox is conveniently located right off the highway, so it is easily accessible. A Marta Station is also positioned right next to the mall within a suitable walk distance to the food court.
A Child Called “It” by Dave Pelzer , is a memoir about “ a young boy who was beaten , starved and tortured by his mother , yet he managed to turn his life around “ (Barta). What is shocking about Dave’s story is that he is the only one out of his siblings that got abused. Written as an adult , Dave felt like he could expose his expressions and feelings. Also , he wanted to help others so they wouldn’t feel alone. This true story compromises what has been termed one of the worst cases of child abuse ever discovered As his mother fell to mental illness and alcoholism, he became substitute for her anger and rage towards his father.
It's a place where the adults can unwind. On your last program I wish the Healthy aging programs
Concord Mills lack a selection of anchor stores that are seen at most mall. For example, majority of the malls have a Macy’s Jcpenny’s or Belk’s located on two ends of the mall for entrance. The mall offers a wide variety of stores for different age groups, and the mall has various entertainment options such as the aquarium and the speed park. The walking distance for older customers may become an issue since the mall has three levels, and the store the individual may be looking for could be on the highest level. Concord Mills offers a variety of food options both fast food and specialty shops they are continuously adding new restaurants each year.
It was very successful and all over the country. Another form of entertainment was Coney Island. It was in New York and was a fun and interactive amusement park with attractions such as the freak show, Luna land, Steeplechase Park and more. The whole island was nothing but crazy attractions and kept people entertained and happy. Like George Tilyou said, “We Americans want either to be thrilled or amused, and we are ready to pay well for either sensation.”
My first time going to six flags was not that great because they did not have many rides that I could choice from, but recently, I went back to six flags and they had doubled their rides for any ages. I was shocked about that because that’s a big improvement that would help them bring in more family friendlies. Six Flags is the biggest collection of commercially operated rides, games and other entertainment attractions. Firstly, there are different types of rides at six flags, those rides that can be operated by the whole family and those only available for kids.
It has been my go to place when things got rough as I was older, to where I can just play a game or practice to take my mind off of things. I am a young adult, who has lost his mother as a child, and whose father was never in his life. I have a large family and I love each and every one of them, even if there are some who tend to
Superman I have always been petrified of heights. This dates all the way back to when I would peer off the edge of the enormous playset in my backyard as a kid. Looking over the breezy, towering side, hands clammy, and mouth dry, it would send shivers down my spine.
The scarlet fever is an infection that can develop inside people who have strep throat. The infection is caused by group A streptococcus bacteria, which are the same bacteria that cause strep throat. These bacteria produce a toxin, or poison, that causes a bright red rash on the body. The scarlet-colored rash is what gives scarlet fever its name. Aside from the rash, people with scarlet fever usually have a high fever and sore throat.
Doll’s House by Henrik Ibsen was highly criticized for undeniably demonstrating woman’s issues in the 19th century. While the play doesn’t change setting much at all, Ibsen clearly focuses in on the characterization of three insightful characters: Mrs. Linde, Nora, and Helmer. Mrs. Linde is a minor character; however, that doesn’t alter her effect on the play. She provides the mold for the perfect, idealized wife. Nora, the main character, develops rapidly in the play, and her character is a stark contrast to Mrs. Linde.
It was an indoor trampoline park. When we got there my sisters went and jumped on the trampolines they had. They did some obstacles, some flips, swung from the ropes, played dodgeball and basketball. My sisters and I had a fun time while we were at the Factory because we had the whole place to ourselves. After leaving the Factory we stopped at a souvenir shop.
