As I turned off the engine of my silver Mazda 3, I rummaged through my black pocketbook in eager anticipation. After my fingers glided across miscellaneous papers and items, I found my satin wallet. My eyes light up with a child-like enthusiasm as I opened it and took out a couple dollar bills. I had just enough. Lunch was going to be a little different from the mundane. I was going to enjoy a meal from not only my adored location in Polk County, but also from the place that many of my fellow citizens considered a part of the community’s history. I stepped out of my car and stuffed my money in my pocket. I was going to Andy’s Igloo. Very few pleasures in life are as fine as a meal at Andy’s Igloo. That is the fascination behind Andy’s Igloo. It not only brings people together, but also can bring out a side of people that they had never envisioned before. That, among a multitude of reasons, is what makes this place so unique in Polk County. This place is a landmark of Polk County and rightfully so. I hope that the owners will continue to serve its residents with the same amount of passion and pride as the day that it opened for many more generations to come. Whether you are old or new to Polk County, Andy’s Igloo can captivate both your heart and your stomach in ways that will remind you of the simplest joys in life. Perhaps in that lies the greatest thing about this place. It is not the food or the service. It is not the age or the aesthetics.
