Whatever the reason, I undoubtedly love the animal, so I decided to research the constellation named after it. Camelopardalis can be found in the second quadrant of the northern hemisphere, neighbored by the constellations of Auriga, Cassiopeia, Draco, Lynx, Perseus, Ursa Major, and Ursa Minor. The constellation is aptly-named due to its large size like a giraffe, and that when connected, the stars truly do look like a drawing of a giraffe.

The word "Camelopardalis" taken apart means "camel" and "leopard," because the Greeks believed giraffes had the head and long neck of a camel with spots like a leopard; it should not be confused that the constellation was created by the Greeks. Created by Dutch astronomer Petrus Plancius and documented by German astronomer Jakob Bartsch in the early 17th century, the constellation is the 18th largest constellation in the night sky, yet it is quite faint. The Greeks left the area blank and undocumented because it did not reveal any stars brighter than a magnitude of four.
