Background i. Initiated yearly, start of every year. ii. Foccuses on community-building and team- building activities i. Multilevel program aimed at reducing and prevent school bullying ii. Increases awareness and involves parents and teacher in bullying prevention i. Preventive program aimed at reducing aggression and bullying ii. Coordinated by a ViSC Coach who trains the teacher.
Encourages a safe learning Educates the children about:
i. Bullying and the negative effects ongoing bullying i. Educates the children on ways of Improving in school and classroom environment ii. active parental involvement in the program i. The children are taught class social rules ii. Teacher is trained on identifying and tackling bullying
Fostering non-violent behavior i. Bully Boxes in planted classrooms. ii. Every month the students are given two lessons which are aligned with bullying iii. The program is more efficient because it covers all areas of delivery and recovery from bullying. The program entails educating the children on bullying, the effects bullying has on other children and also assist all of them build positive relationships. Incorporation of a bully reporting mechanism, the Bully Boxes, eases reporting. The reported cases are adequately handled by the social worker, teachers or administrator every week (Elinoff, Chafouleas & Sassu, 2004). The program further is incorporated into the teaching curriculum and enable the social studies teacher to teach lessons related to anti-bullying.
