Designer's Argument Against Capital Punishment

Since there are different types of formal punishments, capital punishment is one of the most controversial punishments about which people have different thoughts. This poster represents the agreement against the capital punishment. Capital punishment, first, is a government penalty which is killing someone for a crime. This could be somehow attacking to one of the basic human rights, which is having a life. However, some people believe that if someone kills someone else, this person should be punished as equal as he/she did. This poster is completely against the death penalty because it presents the person as a weak person and the rope as a cruel punishment for people as human beings. For example, the use of a thin, weak person is so accurate because killing a person in such a horrible way makes that person is weak even if this person is brave and strong. On the other hand, the designer represented the rope in an obvious color and shape even if this rope is not as thick as it is presented. This illustrates that capital punishment is not an easy way to punish people in such a way whichever the tool that is used to do so. In addition, the usage of color is so effective. Using a red background is so accurate because as humans think of colors, red presents blood, which means death. The designer used this color to attract people’s attention to how capital punishment could be horrible as people think of this color. Also, the use of the white color for the person is effective because it means that this person could be innocent. What people think about the white color is that this color presents purity and clarity. As a result, whatever people do, they will be pure and innocent. On the other hand, the designer used the black color for the rope to represent how cruel is this tool for punishing people. The rope is just a symbol for many ways to capital punishment, but the rope is the most useful tool for the death penalty. Thus, the use of symbols and colors is so accurate, attracting people
