Author: Jeff Lindsay is the pen name of Jeffry P. Freundlich. He lives in Cape Coral, Florida with his wife. His book was nominated for the Mystery Writers of America's Edgar Awards in the Best First Novel category but it didn’t get far because he wrote several other books. His book was also adapted into a tv series titled Dexter.
Summary: Dexter Morgan is a serial killer with a code. His code is that he only kills other killers taught to him by his adoptive father, Henry Morgan. He can only kill murders and must be absolutely sure that his victim is a murder. He tries to maintain relations with others while trying to keep his urges under control by letting loose.

Conflict: Dexter is unhappy that the Tamiami Trail killer has been arrested because he still has urges.

Conflict: Dexter examines that the “Tamiami Trail killer” and concludes that he is just a security guard with a record of robbery and domestic abuse.
