Dialectical Journal For Snow White

Snow White Journal In my opinion, there is no Snow White “version” that I actually enjoyed. Every single one we talked and read about in class has their own flaws that mostly affect and “hit” the women reading these tales. Snow White is portrayed as this beautiful girl and that’s all she’s meant to be. In the Grimm’s version of the classic tale, Snow White, the Evil Queen was actually Snow White’s mother, not her stepmother. In fact, Snow White’s actual mom in the Grimm’s version is even more harsh than the Disney’s version. It’s okay for a man to talk about sex and look at women in repulsing ways, but when women want sex they are called whores and sluts and to me that isn’t right. How is it okay for a man but it's repulsing for a woman? “ ...Lilla felt herself to be pregnant, and nearly died of grief, for she knew that she had done nothing compromising or dishonest…” (Basile 80) See, the words DISHONEST and COMPROMISING are showing that it isn’t okay for women to have sex because a real woman should wait until marriage, but no one would question the man who could impregnate a unwed
