Task 1 I have chosen to read the book “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley. It is a dystopian book about humanity in a future where there is no longer suffering. No one is born from parents anymore; instead, people are cultivated in large Breeding centres, from different castes deciding which tasks they’re going to do in life. The perfect drugs, called soma, are being every week to keep everyone happy, the economy is controlled to perfection, and promiscuity is considered a virtue.
everus nodded, realizing all over again that Voldemort didn't understand the first thing about him. "You know, Severus," he said, stepping closer to the portrait. " That continues to be one of my fondest memories. Albus Dumbledore on his knees, pleading for mercy… a glorious triumph indeed. You'll have to show it to me again sometime."
Adversities of the Open Boat In Chapter 3 of Stephen Crane’s “The Open Boat” after a direful shipwreck, the captain, an oiler, a cook, and a correspondent form a relationship with one another while facing adversity and death. These men share the arduous task of rowing their dinghy and sharing the limited supply of rations.
They enjoyed a premature celebration by smoking cigars. However, they were not rescued. The men continued to row to shore and were at the mercy of the elements. Eventually, only three men return sea. During their time being shipwrecked, they undergoed hunger, exhaustion, and realization of being insignificant.
Navigating “The Open Boat” Stephen Crane’s short story, “The Open Boat,” presents a harrowing account of men navigating a dinghy after a shipwreck, challenging the elements of nature for survival. Crane masterfully depicts this dangerous setting by employing nature as an antagonistic character. He incorporates a mixture of points of view that allows readers to relate to the men’s dilemma. Crane portrays skilled seamen who have a bond as well as a duty to each other. He includes touches of symbolism to foreshadow outcomes and define the power of nature.
The short story, “The Open Boat,” gave life that the lives of the men were inconsequential to the world. Nature’s did its wrath upon the four men. Without mercy, the four men would become stranded upon a dinghy. The world would continue to push the men away from civilization. As the story continues, the men would come far and hard forward to land.
Stephen Crane “The Open Boat,” illustrates through “The Captain,” as a person of great valuation of the ocean. The Captain ship went down at sea during the night. The captain must get the remaining passengers to safety quickly. The captain and the three men are the only remaining survivors floating in a dinghy. Their contingent or realism of survival depends on the captain’s comprehension of the sea.
