Two of the most important things in life are friends and family. This is demonstrated in the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid : Dog Days by Jeff Kinney. The conflict in the book is how Greg’s parents try to ruin his summer vacation in ways. Greg's mom starts book club and his dad wants him to go outside. Greg’s mom informs Greg that she is starting a book club, for the boys in their neighborhood. “Mom said that she was gonna start a reading club for the boys in the neighborhood so she could teach us about all the great literature we were missing out on.” (Kinney 33) This shows how Greg's mom ruins greg's summer in one moment. Also, Greg’s dad want Greg to start going outside more than playing video games, but Greg thinks outside the box and fakes how he went outside. “The big issue between us right now is my sleep schedule. When Greg is asked to go on the summer vacation with Rowley and his family this boost and bring back Greg and Rowley's friendship together. When Greg and Rowley are on the boardwalk and they go on this ride called the cranium shaker. “Well, i wish i had spent more time watching what the Cranium shaker actually did too a person because i never would’ve gotten on if i had.” (Kinney 180) This shows how Greg was scared to go on the ride but faced his fears and went on with Rowley and they had fun but were sick at the same time. Rowley and Greg go to the arcade to bring back memories with video games since they haven't talked in awhile. “I wanted Rowley too see my name at the top of the list, because I wanted to show him what i twas like to win something without it being handed to you.
