Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Ugly Truth

Introduction

The book I’m writing about is Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Ugly Truth written by Jeff Kinney. The Ugly truth is the fifth book published in the Diary of a Wimpy kid series about a kid called Greg. The publish date of The Ugly Truth is November 9, 2010. Here we follow Greg into his early puberty and witness his conflicts of being a late bloomer and we see how complicated a teenage life can be in the battle of being a child or a teenager.

In the beginning of the story Greg (The main character) has had a fight with his best friend Rowley so they are not in good terms. Greg also has had trouble sleeping at night and but one day he accidentally sets off a fire alarm in his school. He doesn’t admit that he did it because the head master said that the student that did it will get suspended. Luckily he doesn’t get caught. A week after that happen Greg and Rowley were invited to a party by an older kid. Greg really wants to go but he can’t because Uncle Gary is getting married and therefore Susan (Greg’s Mother) tells Greg he has to go to Gary’s wedding. Even though Greg can’t go to the party Rowley still wants to go alone.

Greg is very worried because he is not hitting puberty as fast as Rowley is. This adds to the tension …show more content…
