Have you ever seen the Wizard of Oz? If you have you know the Lion is cowardly but finds courage deep inside him. The Diary of Anne Frank shows that four characters have both courage and hope. They show courage and hope in their thoughts, words, and actions. Those characters would be Anne, Mr. Frank, Miep, and Mr. Kraler. These characters had countless times where they have the strength to keep their hopes up and encourage one another even when things got bad for them.

The first character that shows hope and courage in the story is Mr. Frank. One time in the story Mr. Frank turned to everyone and hiding and said to sing a song because they were still alive. Another time in the story Mr. Frank says that they have lived together for two long years and respected each other 's rights lived in peace, and now that they were just gonna throw it all away when someone steals a little loaf of bread. This shows hope because Mr. Frank says this to show that he has hope that Mr. Van Daan will stop taking bread and he believes Mr. Van Daan can do it to save the rest of the children.

These characters being Mr. Frank who showed the courage to stand up in front of the people he was hiding with and tell them that he has hope that they would make it out of this; Anne Frank who showed hope by saying that she hoped she survived with her family and friends; The last two characters being Miep and Mr. Kraler showing the courage to bring back food for the hiders in their house and offering the Van Daans and the Franks the chance to hide in their house even when the Nazis did not allow people to hide Jews.
