Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have to get up and go into hiding for two years? Well, that is exactly what Anne Frank and her family had to do. The novel that I read was “The Diary of A Young Girl” by Anne Frank. I really enjoyed the diary and thought that it was very fascinating. It was very realistic to be able to read about what Anne had to go through during the difficult two years in hiding. When Anne Frank was thirteen her life transformed and not in a good way, all because of the Nazi’s. The Frank’s and their friends, The Van Daan’s went into hiding. Anne kept a diary documenting the whole experience of being in hiding. They were completely cut off from the outside world. They had certain hours that they were allowed to use the bathroom and take baths. They could not move around or make noise at all during the day. They were unable to ride their bikes, play with their friends, or even eat as much as they used to. They were miserable and often faced with the challenge of having little food. Sooner or later the Gestapo found out about them hiding in the Secret Annexe and went in after them. They were sent away to concentration camps and Anne passed away after a treacherous journey there. This is because, in the diary you see what happens when Anne and her family are in the secret annexe hiding and how it affects her relationships. Also we have been studying how Jewish people were treated because of their religion and way of life. For example, in the diary Anne writes about how when they were walking people passing by in cars looked at them and wanted to give them a ride but could not due to them being a Jewish.
