The diary of a young girl: The biographical book of a young Jewish named Anne Frank. Edited by Myra H. Immell 144 pages (1998). Paperback, non-fiction. San Diego: Greenhaven Press. The diary was written by Anne herself, but first published by her father Frank Otto after her death. Anne was born Anneliese Frank on June 12, 1929 in Frankfurt-am-main, Germany. She was living with her family quietly until her father Otto Frank who was a successful banker and businessman decided to move the whole family in Amsterdam, Holland after Hitler came to power and immediately started boycotts of Jews business. They had a comfortable life in Holland which was known as a liberal country; Otto could even establish a business there. Later, the World War II started; Germany occupied Holland. So life became hard for Jews in Holland.
In regard to Anne’s diary, it is easy to realize the difficulties that Jews faced at that time; that was the total disrespect of human rights. After a couple of days eight other people joined them in the annex. They were helped by the Otto’s employees by providing them food and the update of the war. Shortly, before the Franks went into hiding was Anne’s birthday; her father gave her a diary as gift. She wrote every day their situation; she expressed her feelings like she said “I don’t want to set down a series of bald facts in a diary in a diary like most people do, but I want this diary itself to be my friend, and I shall call my friend kitty”. She wanted to become a journalist, a writer, and she wanted her capacity of leadership regarding how she chose to live this bad war.
