Most people just call them creepy and random, but they’re making a mistake, there’s actually a lot lot of consistencies between his movies. One of his movies, Edward Scissorhands, was written by Caroline Thompson and directed by Tim Burton, is about an old scientist’s human creation, Edward, but dies before he can finish the creation. Edward is left secluded in the dead scientist’s mansion, with scissors in the place of his hands. A saleswoman named Peg takes him home from the dead scientist’s mansion.
In the article "Don't Blame the Eater" informs the parents and any fast-food consumers on the dangerous health effects fast-food can cause. Child obesity and type 2 diabetes have increased within the country, a possible factor for this kind of sickness can be tracked to fast-food, David Zinczenko attentively constructs his argument against teenage or child obesity and properly builds support for his position. His argument was achieved by his usage of humor credibility, and forced teaming. Together, these devices complete Zinczeko's mission while he remains considerate of the opposing side. Instead of opening his introduction with a tedious writing based on his future discussion points, he decides to craft his way into introducing his article with a bit of humor.
Obesity is an issue that affects many people worldwide. In the article “Why Shame Won’t Stop Obesity”, by Dhruv Khullar, Khullar tries to argue that obesity is a major problem in the United States and the way the country is handling this issue is incorrect. Khullar goes to medical school and experiences first hand the problems people with obesity have to deal with. He believes that some people have no option when it comes to what they choose to eat and that food industries are influencing people in the wrong way. He makes a strong and clear argument by identifying issues, providing evidence, solutions, and counter arguments.
Schwartz’s essay is written in the satirical style using a sarcastic dry humor to appeal to its audience. He claims “if fat people are unhappy people, blame not their fat but their fellow citizens who bill them as clowns, clodhoppers [a clumsy or awkward person], cannibals, or criminals;” (Schwartz 179). This claim when read by a fat audience member may allow them to relate despite the bias because it is biased in their favor, however if Schwartz is trying to appeal to other audiences this claim comes across as not even close to what they as non fat people experience. Schwartz tells the reader to “[b]lame the kindergarten teachers, the coaches, the friends, and physicians” (179) as he claims they are the ones who start fat people on the diets that do not work. His statement does not come across as sarcasm but rather a fact he believes to be true and most people don’t see kindergarten teachers pushing children into diets.
In her article “Food as Thought: Resisting the Moralization of eating,” Sociologist Mary Maxfield claims that food is neither moral nor immoral, therefore, everyone can eat whatever they desire. Maxfield feels that everyone should trust their body and allow their mind to decide on what our body needs intake. On a daily basis our body needs the proper nutrients to function. But too much or too little nutrients can cause many illnesses or other problems that can be harmful and damaging to our body. However, Maxfield ignores the fact that eating whatever we want we may suffer the consequences of negative side effects.
This appeals to our physiological needs because naturally, humans need to eat food and to hear from a professional that there are other influences outside of food that are giving cause to the obesity crisis gives Americans a slight sigh of relief when it comes to the degree of toxicity of our foods. In Steingraber’s essay, Most Children Don’t Like Spinach, But I Am A Child Who Does, she enforces the idea that children should be exposed to healthy food because it provides children with the nutrients they need to grow. Zinczenko strategically uses emotional pathos through his example of obesity in children. Children are innocent in tone, therefore helping him explain that they are innocent in spite of the manipulation of the fast food industry. The author presents the issue of the lack of nutrition information in fast food. He’s not dissing the fast food industry; rather, he is stating the problem at hand that should be taken care of. He sympathizes with the fact that he too was once a kid whose two daily meals were from typical fast food restaurants.

“New York City’s Board of Health today passed a rule banning super-sized drinks at restaurants, concession stands and other eateries.” (Doc A). Individuals in the United States are overweight because they do not know how to limit themselves. If the government were to control one of the main reasons people are obese, then several people would not be overweight because the government would take care of the problem. Banning sugary drinks over 16-ounces would help people lower their sugar intake, which would help people stay in excellent health.
My purpose of writing this rhetorical situation is to inform. I hope to inform the readers about the drastic increase of childhood obesity and diabetes within America’s population. I will analyze this topic, separate it into the two types of obesity, and tell how those are affecting the population. I will also discuss the factors that are contributing to obesity and how both type 1 and 2 diabetes rates within children are increasing every year. I will be sure to discuss how the reader can help to decrease these rates and what America needs to do as a whole to change the youth population.
