Lawrence Frank’s article sought to disprove the assumptions of age as a problem. Within this observation, Frank discuss various goals to push the new discipline of gerontology by not only considering biological and medical components but also incorporate political, behavioral, psychological, and cultural aspects to aging. By considering these factors, Franks stance assisted scholars in reimagining how he or she might interpret the process of aging and consider the disciplines future in the context of social science. In addition, Franks observation created the foundation to gerontological theories as well as many of today’s gerontology theories. However, although gerontology has improved and has captivated innovative ideas a provides meaning knowledge to the field aging, unconsciously, the field is continuously working to achieve many of the goals. For instance, gerontology remains a multidimensional research field that incorporates various disciplines. Gerontological scholars have benefited from the multidisciplinary field is through constant collaboration and consideration for multiple perspectives on aging. With these collaborations among the various fields creates an even bigger opportunity to address the most complex projects in aging. The process and final product from these intricate complex research project will enhance the discipline of gerontology in a way that one single discipline cannot address individually. If Frank thought that other disciplines outside of health and medicine should not be included in gerontological research, then individuals like myself would be unable to learn and apply knowledge from the field of
