A christ figure will often perform actions that are considered miracles by those around him. The film Cool Hand Luke focuses on the titular character, Luke, a prisoner who refuses to conform to life in prison. Luke performs miracles on more than one occasion throughout the film. The first instance is when he fights fellow prisoner Dragline. Dragline continuously knocks Luke down, but he keeps standing up for more.
Many and varied are the interpretations dealing with the teachings and the life of Jesus of Nazareth. But few of these interpretations deal with what the teachings and the life of Jesus have to say to those who stand, at a moment in human history, with their backs against the wall (Thurman, 1949). Jesus was a Jew, meaning he was born visually, culturally, religiously, and ethnically different. In Viramontes’ novel Under the Feet of Jesus, the author composes symbolic representations about the daily life of a migrant worker. Symbols used throughout the novel was the barn as a figure to represent a church, Petra’s statue of Jesus that symbolized her faith in Christianity and the baby doll with no mouth that represented the views on silence. The author uses symbolism to get her message across on how the difficulties of migrant workers. The symbols, the barn, Jesus statue, and the baby with no mouth represent the migrant workers’ stance on faith.
In chapter 3 of Speaking of Jesus, Carl Medearis talks about what it means to own Christianity. He says "If we don't truly know what the gospel is, we have to find an explanation for Christianity." Meaning that if we do not know what the gospel is or what it is teaching us, then we try to define it by our own standards, and that is where it gets messy. Medearis talks about how Christianity is more than a religion, but it is a relationship and people tend to not understand that. He explains why people are so defensive and put up their guards towards Christians, because Christians can be so judgemental.
What I think the misfit meant by "Jesus thrown everything off balance" is that before Jesus sacrificed himself every person was held accountable for their actions at a higher extent. After Jesus the sacrificial lamb died on the cross everyone had a second chance, redemption, and mercy. The Misfit obviously didn't agree with this, because whatever the punishment was for our sins they would never be equivalent to what it would have been before Jesus. Jesus sacrificing himself was not they way life was supposed to be or at least to the Misfit what it was meant to be. The Misfit goes on further to say that he didn't believe that his punishment fits his crime.

Although Simon does show traits of a Christ figure, he does not fully live up to the archetype of a Christ figure. To be a Christ figure is someone must show the traits of the Biblical Christ. In the Bible, Christ fed people who could not feed themselves, and Simon fed the littluns ripe fruit, so that they could eat without getting sick. Simon’s role as a failed Christ figure is shown in his violent and ineffective “crucifixion” and “resurrection”, and his failure at getting them to listen and be reassured by what he had to say. One of the reasons Simon is a failed Christ figure, is that he just died, unlike Christ, who died a martyr to save humanity, and was resurrected from the dead.

Aylin Reta 88729977 ARTH 1306 Christ with the Symbols of the Passion Christ with the Symbols of the Passion is a work by Italian painter Lavinia Fontana, its medium is oil on panel and it was executed on 1576. In this piece we see, what seems to be, Christ after he was brought down from the cross. He is sitting at the center of the piece with multiple angels besides him. The color palette seems dark and obscure as well as the overall mood of the piece. He is surrounded by symbols that are significant to the process of His crucifixion such as the cross, the crown of thorns, a whip, and is also surrounded by three angels.
In Helena Maria Viramontes’ novel, Under the Feet of Jesus, Estrella starts off as angsty and confused, but then shifts to a state of contentment and understanding, caused by life experiences. These character traits are revealed through the selection of detail, figurative language, and tone. Initially, Estrella is immediately characterized as “very angry” when she finds Perfecto’s “foreign” toolbox. She uses a tone of confusion that illustrates her unfamiliarity with the objects in the tool box by using words such as “funny-shaped”, and using a simile comparing her confusion with the tools to the alphabet which Estrella “could not decipher”.
Jesus is a modern epic hero. Across the span of his lifetime, He has fulfilled all of the eight elements of the epic hero cycle. You can read all about His life in the Bible. Jesus was born with a special DNA. He is the son of God.

These five waves have been run by a group of aliens called, The Others, who have been trying to inhabit Earth. Cassie is trying to go to the compound, Camp Haven, where The Others are putting their plan (The 5th Wave) into action.
Matthew and Luke were both evangelists. They both helped to spread the Gospel, the good news of Jesus. Their telling of the Gospel is very similar, yet very different at the same time. They are similar because they both tell the same story.
