There is a large presence of power when Joe is introduced into the story. Joe has dominance over Eatonville as well as over Janie. What strived the control over Janie and the people of Eatonville was the desire of power. His power caused the townspeople to appreciate his effort of change in the town however, they also fear his strength.
How a character acts and what their personality is can describe their character trait. Sometimes characters are different in their traits, oftenly characters can be the same by changing or revising their own character trait. The protagonist is Doug from Okay for Now, by Gary Schmidt. Doug is a teenage boy that is struggling with a rough family. Doug 's father got a new job that was far away from his own town so, Doug has to adapt to the town that he moved to.
The relationships between the other characters are also significant in shaping the story. Izzy, for example, is initially presented as a selfish and manipulative character, but as the story progresses, we see her develop a deeper emotional connection with March and the other characters. Her relationship with March is particularly notable, as it evolves from one of suspicion and mistrust to one of mutual respect and affection. Similarly, Jules, the youngest member of the group, undergoes significant development as she learns to overcome her fears and becomes a valuable member of the team. The content and purpose of the story are also worth noting in relation to character development.

In the story "The Ravine" by Graham Salisbury, Vinny and Starlene are two characters who exhibit contrasting traits and responses to the events unfolding around them. Vinny is portrayed as a cautious and fearful individual, deeply affected by the presumed death of Butchie. He is hesitant and nervous throughout the story, showing reluctance to engage in risky activities like jumping off the ledge into the pond. Vinny's fear is palpable, as shown when he thinks about the legend of the stone goddess and the possible fate of Butchie's body. Despite pressure from his friends, Vinny ultimately listens to his inner voice and decides not to jump, demonstrating his ability to confront his fears and make independent choices.
Vinny and Joe-Boy are similar in many ways, but don’t have a lot in common. On page seven of “The Ravine”, Vinny clearly stated that he thought he was weak because he couldn't say no to his friends. On page seven, Vinny also felt distraught, he didn't want to go to the ravine because of the dead boy, but he didn't want to disappoint his friends. Vinny was really scared . Vinny didn’t jump in the pond rate away because he was thinking about the dead boy's body because he doesn't know if the body is down in the water and he would be jumping off a 50 foot ledge. Joe-boy and Starlene seid the stone goddess took the dead boy. Joe-boy doesn't have a lot of differences like vinny but here are a couple of examples.
For these reasons, Joe’s perseverance show he is a gritty, mentally strong, and independent person. Joe’s abandonment and his ability to fight through it convey the idea that his life experiences have helped create grit. Furthermore, Joe’s actions prove that he has become a mentally tougher person. He uses his abandonment as motivation to become independent and to prove to Harry that he can survive and succeed. Later on in the book, Joe develops a good relationship with Washington’s boatbuilder, George Pocock, who gives him advice on rowing.
This is a reflection of who Joe was in the beginning of the book, where he was just another kid with no worries. It is ironic because of who Joe has developed into and what he's been through. However, by the end of the chapter, Joe is portrayed as a child who is dependent on his parents to bring him back home. His young age is an obstacle but it also provides some protection as he would be tried as a juvenile and no one really suspects him. 13-year-old Joe is already making well-advanced decisions that no regular 13-year-old would be making at this age.
In the book, Outsiders, I noticed the most character development in Ponyboy Curtis. Although he didn’t realize many things until the end of the book, I think once everything registered within himself, he took everything that had happened to him in the past couple weeks as a lesson. One thing that Ponyboy finally grasped was that his oldest brother Darry actually cared for him. At first Ponyboy had always thought that Darry didn’t like him and that Darry would rather him be gone. However, after his friends repeatedly reassured Ponyboy that his older brother had been hard on him because he really loved and cared about him, Ponyboy slowly started to realize that, even though the two still fought a bit.
Violent imagery is quite key to the strategies of propaganda in the Cold War. As mentioned in the earlier post, both sides based their propaganda on the criticism of the opposing ideology and state. However, the more extreme strategies were employed in raising hostility towards the opponent among the population and in the world. One of the examples is the period of ‘Hate America’ campaign that showed a lot of aggression towards the US, for instance, as in the course of the Korean war communist propagandists were accusing the United States in torturing the prisoners of war and using biological warfare. The fact that the story happens based on a traditional father and son camping trip shows their strong bond. The story does not point out the conversation between Joe and his father; for a little while his father didn’t say a thing. Then he said why sure go along Joe (Trumbo).The unknown dialogue gives a picture of the situation the father is facing while Joe is mentioning Bill Harper. This also shows how Joe is growing up and viewing this place differently and wanting to experience differently. The place that represents Joe’s childhood will covert him into a young man as he changes the tradition.
