Catholicism is one of the main and earliest form of Christianity and also the oldest institution in the world. It has more than one billion followers worldwide which makes seventeen percent of the world. Catholics belief that there is only one God and that Jesus is the son of God much similar to Christianity. They belief that God will judge them based on their actions and that will determine whether they either go to heaven or hell when they die. One of the main figures in this religion is the Pope which is the leader of the Catholic Church which is located in Rome. The Pope has a great influence worldwide not only to Catholics but to everyone as he is a figure that people look up to. Many of the Catholics traditions and customs are similar to the ones of the Christians like going to church on the holy day of Sunday, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ in other words Christmas, and most important holiday for Catholics Easter which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Many Catholics and Christians refer the week prior to Easter as Holy week. With many of the similarities between Christians and Catholics what really makes them different? All Catholics can refer themselves as Christian but no all Christians can refer themselves as Catholics, one key difference is that Catholics believe in Saints like St. Patrick and Lady of Guadalupe while Christians don’t. Catholics celebrate the seven sacraments which are Baptism, Confirmation, etc. while Christians don’t.
