Well for starters it's an honor to work at one of the top fast food restaurants in the industry. With people who I enjoy working with and mangers who appreciate you and everything that you do. Truett Cathy made an amazing impact on the United States because, his strong work ethic and faith in God have been a wonderful inspiration. Truett Cathy came almost from nothing and grew up creating something that changed Western Culture. Not only did his restaurant give us amazing food but, his strong faith and great work ethic have inspired those all over America. Truett Cathy was born in March 14, 1921 in Eatonton, Georgia. At this time America was thriving but some people including his family were having a rough time.

Starting with helping students who needs help getting food. NEFP collect items for babies and any items that is donated and help passes it around to any student who come to the food pantry in need of these items. Parents who are enrolled in the college can stop by and pick up diapers or baby wipes. Students who can't afford to by hair care products or don't have enough money to put a meal together can stop by the NEFP and get help with these different items. NEFP also helps in a way of allowing people to do volunteer work so that they can get hands on experience with working in a food pantry and being able to see what it take to maintain and run a food

Homeless individuals come to our BlueGold bases which are centered on numerous beaches across the United States (soon across the world), and collect trash from the shoreline under the supervision of our volunteers. For every bag of trash they fill up, they are given a “golden token.” These tokens are then used as a currency which allows them to come to our BlueGold centers and obtain food donated by people and businesses across the area. Though it is not always evident, hunger is a real issue in America. Feeding America states that, “41 million people struggle with hunger in the United States, including 13 million children”(Hunger).

We know that for populations like children and seniors, a balanced diet can be particularly essential to succeeding in school, complementing medication and battling disease. Unfortunately, nutrition-related illnesses disproportionately affect food-insecure people. When you join the Feeding America Hunger Council as a monthly donor, you become someone we can count on to help families facing hunger.
For this service-learning project, I decided to volunteer at Meals on Wheels in Rocky Mount. Meals on Wheels is a nonprofit organization that deliver meals to individuals at home that are unable to purchase or prepare their own meals. My grandmother who volunteers with them every Tuesday first introduced me to the program 10 years ago. Kara is a family friend who is the Director of Development for Meals on Wheels. She helped me get the volunteering opportunity.
For over thirty years, Community Lunch has worked with hundreds of volunteers to provide hot meals and other essential services to the community. They serve four meals a week – two lunches and two suppers – in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. Meals are free and open to the general public. In addition to hot meals, they provide clothing, sleeping bags, gloves, socks, and toiletries, plus resources to apply for housing. Their work is best described by their purpose: “feeding the community, serving the community, creating community” (Community Lunch).
