Feeding America is a nationwide network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs that provides food and services to people each year. Together this network is the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief organization. Recently, more families and individuals begin to struggle with hunger due to the cost of living increasing and income from employers not being sufficient enough to feed and take care of a family. Price and income shifts can radically impact the poor and hungry.
As a community nutritionist, I developed a feel and confidence for how to educate and counsel community members of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe as part of the Diabetes Prevention and Treatment Program. I am a Native American and part of this tribe and therefore was so enthused to be part of their health care team. Being fresh out of college and given only a vague idea of the expectations of the position, I gathered all my available resources and set about the task of independently creating a successful education and counseling program. As I learned the ropes and increased my knowledge base, I felt the need to develop healthy cooking classes for my clients. The goal was to show my clients how to cook delicious, affordable and nutrient dense meals while catering to their specific culture preferences.
Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) Charge Meal Policy is included in the Wellness Policy. The policy clearly states a student can charge a reimbursable meal without money in hand or on account. It also says, à la carte items cannot be charged without a positive account balance or cash to pay at the time of purchase. FCPS’s policy is comparable to Act 55.

While regulations exist in the United States society to determine who needs food stamps and when those families need them, the abuse of this federal program still occurs. Assistance to needy families is crucial and normally temporary with the exceptions of those who use the program as a way of life. All 50 states have many different variations of regulations for food stamps. In Oklahoma, the federal program for assistance for food is called SNAP.
My contribution to the mission of Nurse Corps Scholarship Program will not be limited to the help in which is needed. It has always been my desire to help others. Working in the medical field now as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant, and as a Direct Care worker for the mentally disabled has trained me to face many different challenges with the correct approach. Also as a Licensed Evangelist Missionary, in my Christian belief, I have had the opportunity to work in the communities helping others in the time of need. With all that I have seen and learned through my work experience and through the church, I will be able to contribute the love, the nurturing, and the comforting of the individual in need while providing the care

We know that for populations like children and seniors, a balanced diet can be particularly essential to succeeding in school, complementing medication and battling disease. Unfortunately, nutrition-related illnesses disproportionately affect food-insecure people. When you join the Feeding America Hunger Council as a monthly donor, you become someone we can count on to help families facing hunger.
1) Why did I choose nursing as a profession? When I was younger I was very ill and at that time it was not known whether I would survive. However, I was able to survive and exceed the expectation of the prognosis of the condition.
Hunger is a serious problem throughout the world, but today I will be focusing on hunger in america. Just for reference, I don’t mean the time between breakfast and lunch. Evolution from Novice to a Beginning Professional Nurse Looking back when I started my nursing school, I can proudly say that I have evolved both physically and psychologically. I was not sure if nursing was the right choice for me at first because I had difficulties interacting with people outside my family circle. The first semester was challenging for me because I did not know how to interact with my class mates and felt isolated each time there is a class activity. I joined a study group later that semester and it has been an excitement ever since.
