GRABBER. In S.E Hinton’s novel The Outsiders, Dallas Winston and Johnny Cade are opposites, from their personalities to their way of life. Dally is tough, while Johnny is sensitive, yet the two are very similar. Johnny gives advice to stay the same and not change, while Dally thinks that staying tough is the only way to not get hurt. They die in different ways, but both grew up with abusive or neglectful parents. Through everything, Johnny and Dally care about each other. Thus, even though Johnny and Dally are very different, they are also very much the same. Johnny Cade and Dally Winston have one main difference between them, they both give different advice. For instance, before Dally is tough and shows little emotion throughout the book.
