During the 1960's, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee was a best seller almost immediately after it was published. To Kill a Mockingbird was a book about prejudice and segregation. When the book was made into the movie the creators couldn't fit all the details in the movie leading to some similarities and differences.

To Kill a Mockingbird was filled with a lot of details and information. Therefore, the movie left out some important factors. For example, In the book Miss Maudie's house burned down, the creators left this out in the movie. This detail should have been put in the movie because it showed that Miss Maudie was a joyous person. After it burned down she was actually excited to start building a new house but was dispirited that her garden was ruined. In the book, during the trial, Calpurnia found Jem and Scout at the courtroom and sent them home to eat lunch. This wasn't in the movie, this would have been important because it would have shown how long the jury was talking for and that Tom Robinson actually came close to being found not guilty. Finally, Aunt Alexandra wasn't into the movie. It would have been important for her to be in the movie. This is because she was a women role model for Scout and if she was there it would have shown that Scout still didn't like girly clothes. …show more content…

For example, Tom Robinson dies in the book and in the movie. It's right-minded that the creators put this in the movie because it made the movie make more sense and we met Tom's wife and children. In both the movie and book Mayella won the trial. This was a key detail that was important to put in the movie. If she didn't win Tom would have never been shot and the town would have had much different feedback. In the book, Jem and Scout got attacked by Mr. Ewell and Auther Radley rescued them. Author rescuing them showed that he really cared for the children and that he wasn't just some chilling creepy
