The society in New England was very stable because there was a high amount of immigration, and they came in groups. Religion was also played a large role in the development of New England because it was established as a safe haven from persecution. The Puritans in England founded New England because they were able to practice their religion without any interference. On the other hand, Chesapeake’s society was made up of plantation owners and slaves. In fact, 75% of the early immigrants were indentured servants.
Both New England and the Chesapeake region were colonized by people of English origin, however despite this they developed into two very distinct societies. This difference in development can be rooted back to the geographic features of the respective areas as well as the aspirations of the settlers. New England was primarily devoted to practicing Puritanism while the Chesapeake region was focused on financial gain from gold and, more significantly, tobacco. New England was mostly settled by people who were subjected to religious persecution for practicing English Reformed Protestantism, or more commonly known as Puritanism, in Catholic Europe. These such people, who boarded the Weymouth for example, included families and their servants
In my opinion the Southern colonies and the New England had many similarities between them. One of the characteristics in which they were similar was in the form of government; both were ruled by a Royal Government. They were administered by people directly elected by the King. They were constituted by a governor, a royal council and an assembly of representatives which was chosen by the people. In this political system the one who took the important decisions was the governor; controlled expenses and taxes; but the people also had an opinion within the government since they could elect their representatives.
The important and influential characteristics of Vermonters arose from Vermont’s early history. Many early Vermonters were farmers and builders who lived off the land. Largely because of Vermont’s isolation and the rigors of its climate and terrain, the kinds of men and women who arrived in what was to become the State of Vermont and who remained despite difficulties were and are hard-working, frugal, and self-reliant. Vermont used to be an independent republic until it became a state in 1791. As explained in a paper by three Vermont historians, Vermont was a “refuge for landless, younger sons; restless seekers of the frontier; and, to some degree, outlaws from Massachusetts and New York: people outside the colonial structures
America is arguably the greatest country in existence, it’s built on values of freedom and abundance of opportunities for its citizens. In Mr Schwartz’s view, the young “rude,” uncivil, and irresponsible have taken advantage of the freedom and created entropy in today’s society. I strongly disagree with Mr. Schwartz theories concerning the “rudeness” of American civility. Furthermore, Mr. Schwartz makes numerous generalizations, contradicts himself on countless remarks, and uses no data or evidence besides anecdotal evidence to support many of his claims. I disagree with Mr.schwartz's essay for several reasons.
Critical Review: The Black South and White Appalachia The evidence within The Black South and White Appalachia argues that African-Americans and Appalachians were believed to share many of the same traits. They were both said to be lazy, superstitious, and stubborn in their ways. The Black South and White Appalachia objectively explains that African-Americans and Appalachians have historically been seen as having many aspects of their lives in common. The dwellings of both groups are claimed to have been hovel like with few rooms, filthy, and crowded.
Their society suffered in the lack of education. Likewise, the New England and Chesapeake colonists began to settle in vastly different environments, ultimately shaping and diversifying their
The "culture of honor" that takes place throughout the Appalachian Mountains is when someone has to be aggressive and respected in order to protect what is their property. If they are looked upon as weak and fragile, they aren 't able to make a living because people would just run over them. For example, "the survival of a farmer depends on the cooperation of others in the community. But a herdsman is off by himself.. He 's under constant threat of ruin through the loss of his animals..
How was life in the North different from life in the South Life in the north was different than the south in multiple ways such as the differences between wages and economy. The different weather And the different kinds of society. The economy between north and south were very different, in the north there were lots of machines which is why there was such a big industrial revolution. But in the south there was more land to be bought and sold. there was a big demand for guns and ammunition to, lots of people needed guns for hunting and protection.

Since World War I caused such a disruption in the world, it could easily be said that is why people developed this type of mentality. “Real riches are the riches possessed inside,” which is a characteristic that all of these people in West Egg
Although the narrator only found the empty shell, the author clearly states that the narrator "found a robin’s egg". A robin 's egg is fairly easy to distinguish from other local birds eggs due to its speckled surface and blue color. Thus the character did know what was in the egg, much like they know what is in their heart.
The Northern and Southern colonies in the seventeenth century had many differences and similarities. The differences go all the way back to the beginning as the United States was only separated into the Northern, middle and southern colonies. Each colony shared many differences mainly revolving around religion, politics, economics and social issues. The result of the way that they dealt with these issues in our country today.
