Who do I side with? Early political parties were much different than the ones that we currently have today. Although they differ by name, that is not the main difference. The Federalists stood for a large federal government, leading one to draw the connection to the current day democratic party. The Democratic-Republicans on the other hand stood for power for the states, leading one to draw the connection to the current day Republican party. Although I hold many Republican beliefs, I cannot say that I would stand the the Democratic- Republican party. I feel that times were different, and since the country was considerably new, the need for a larger federal government was much more apparent than currently. I also feel that Hamilton’s plan
