All living things need food to stay alive. From the smallest organisms such as bacteria to the biggest organism need food. Food provides energy that is crucial in daily life. Every muscle in the body needs energy to maintain the health of a person. For instance, cardiac muscle needs sufficient energy to pump blood in a complete circulation system. Different types of food or ingredients contain different nutrients such as carbohydrate, protein, fat, and vitamins. A particular ingredient that is commonly used in making dessert is chocolate. In general, there are five types of chocolate which are dark, raw, milk, white and compound chocolate (refer to Figure 1 in Appendix 1).
Dark chocolate is also called black chocolate or plain chocolate. It is produced by adding fat and sugar to cocoa. No milk is added to this chocolate as usual chocolate. There is no official definition for dark chocolate and it eaten as it it. Dark chocolate also used in cooking for thicker and high cocoa percentage baking bars as stated in article by LaBau E. (2015, May 21). There is semisweet,extra dark and bittersweet dark chocolates. Dark chocolate have few health benefits such as lowers blood pressure and reduced risk of heart attack and stroke and even reduces stress. DeNoon J.D.(2003, August 23) says studies showed that eating a small amount of dark chocolate improves blood flow and help to prevent blood clots.
