Merida from the Disney Movie Brave is a very unique princess, and she is different than the other Disney princesses in many ways. Her roles are different than the traditional roles used in other Disney movies since she likes weapons and archery, does not want to become a princess, has a strong bond with her family and mother, and emotionally changes throughout the movie. Many Disney princesses do not change or like weapons, nor do they have a strong family bond or do not want to be a princess, yet this makes Merida different from the rest.

Most Princesses would want to become a princess in their past, but Merida does not want to. She barely pays attention when her mom lectures her about being a princess and she frequently tells her parents that she does not want to become a princess. She does not have a passion for becoming a princess, but she has a strong passion for archery, in which she wants to become an archer. Her mom, Queen Elinor usually forces her to do things a princess does but she usually disobeys. Since Merida does not want to become a princess, this makes her roles peculiar than the traditional roles used in other Disney movies.
Merida is also different than the other Disney Princesses since she has a tenacious bond with her family and mother. Most Disney princesses do not have a mother, but if they do, they do not share a strong bond with her and they are not queens. The same goes with the father. This makes Merida different because she has a mother and a father, who are both a king and queen. She shares a vigorous bond with them, and this bond becomes stronger at the end of the movie. Since Merida has a strong bond with her mother and father, Merida is really distinct than other Disney
