Introduction:
The National Health Service (NHS) of the United Kingdom is regarded as one of the most comprehensive healthcare systems in the world. Despite its reputation for providing universal healthcare, evidence reveals that healthcare inequities exist in the NHS. Ethnicity is one element that leads to healthcare inequity. Ethnicity is an important predictor of healthcare results, with minority ethnic groups frequently having poorer health outcomes than the majority population. This essay will look at evidence of ethnic healthcare disparities in the NHS and investigate the underlying variables that contribute to this problem. BME individuals are more likely than white British individuals to report poor health and difficulty accessing healthcare facilities [Nazroo et al. 2020]. Another study highlighted institutional racism inside the NHS as a major contributor to ethnic healthcare disparities [Aspinall and Chinouya, 2018].

What are the NHS and a short history of the NHS:
The NHS was established in response to the issues that the United Kingdom faced in the aftermath of World War II. The country had been damaged by the war, with widespread poverty and poor healthcare systems. Due to the high expense of medical treatment, many individuals were unable to obtain healthcare services, and there was a growing consensus that a universal healthcare system was required to solve these difficulties.
