Distinctive Voices In The Film One Night The Moon

An Indigenous Australian’s significance not only derives from cultural and religious aspects, but through the use of voicing opinions regarding specific roles within society. We must ask ourselves, will a part of our history be lost if we lack to acknowledge a woman’s role in society. Distinctive voices within a film allows us to recognise the diverse characters as well as the identities which are created through their voice. Through distinctive voices, the perceptions of different identities are evoked which allow various perspectives to be explored. This is construed within my film One Night the Moon (2001). However, have we truly grasped the concept of a distinctive voice? It is a rather unique and intriguing reflection of an individual's and or groups personality and identity. I’ve incorporated Two significant examples of constructing voices may include Albert Yang’s ‘Kelton Pell’, which incorporates an Aboriginal tracker that attains success in representing both indigenous individuals and the wider Aboriginal community. Similarly, Kaarin Fairfax's character ‘Rose Ryan’ portrays gender roles which outline the voice of women within the year 1930.

This is shown through the scene as Rose is depicted as not more than a simple being, solely for the reason of aiding the men in their search, which may be applied to the general lifestyle of women in the 1930’s. Ultimately, it is through the actions of Rose that we are drawn into the experiences of women in 1930 but also allow us to consider the different perspectives that are explored.
