“I believe this artificial intelligence is going to be our partner. If we misuse it, it will be a risk. If we use it right, it can be our partner.” - Masayoshi Son. AI can be our partner, and right now it is. But, if we misuse it we could end up the world of Philip K. Dicks novel Do Android Dream of Electric Sheep. The good thing is, we are not quite on the same path. We are using AI to its fullest extent that will help the world. I believe that even with how smart the androids are in DADoES, that our AI is much more powerful and smarter.
Simply put, the androids in Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep are very complex. They have all but one of the features of a human. The androids have a full human-like body. They have skin, organs, blood,

To prove how complex and smart AI can be, I found an article on how Google's DeepMind program used AI to be the best Go player. Go is a relatively simple game, that was invented over 2500 years ago in China. The goal of the game is to claim territory on a 19x19 grid with your stones. Simply put, the person with the most territory wins. The only problem is that there are 10170different possible board configurations (Gibney 445). This means that a simple algorithm cannot win the game. The AI has to think and learn from its opponent, to find out its next best move. AlphaGo, from Google's DeepMind team, has been able to win a majority of its game against the best Go player in the world, Lee Sedol, 4 to 1. With power like this from an AI, it's impossible to see how this can be a downside to the human race. AI can learn from humans and could be used to then solve issues that humans could never solve. It can make business decisions that can benefit the producers and consumers. In an interview with Sudip Singh, he says that from a study he has done that 80% of enterprises are undergoing a shift to becoming AI-driven. AI is starting to make decisions that otherwise humans might not be able to make. Overall, AI has greatly helped improve the world, and it can only get better from …show more content…
AI could be smart enough that there's no benefit to passing the Turing test. A magazine article written by Paul R. Cohen argues that there are bigger challenges to win than a small test. “There are challenge problems in planning, e-commerce, knowledge discovery from databases, robotics, game playing, and numerous competitions in aspect of natural language.” (Cohen 67). The real Turing test for these AI is something like being the best Go player, or solving the next big issue. The Turing test is not necessary anymore. Another researcher, Daniel Berrar, also believe that the Turing test is simply not an achievement anyone is looking for. “The Turing test has nearly vanished from research agendas today, and some consider the Turing test even harmful for AI” (Berrar 259). AI today are so advanced that they don’t need to prove that they can pass something like the Turing test. Whereas the androids of DADoES are simply just trying to fit in and not accomplish anything but world
