Cunningham,Anthony Mr. Shipp English1, Block 4 5/24/2023 MLK I have a dream essay In Martin Luther King's “I have a dream” speech he used figurative language in several ways.figurative language is the use of words in a way that deviates from the conventional order and meaning in order to convey a complicated meaning, colorful writing, clarity, or evocative comparison. Its a way of grabbing a listener or a reader's attention in a writing or speech. The ones that stood out to me the most were when he said ”Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice”,and when he said “negro lives on a lonely island of proverty in the midst of a vest ocean”and they mainly stood out t me because they were so deep and there were a lot of other things that were deep too but I like these the most.
