How would you feel staying in a small room looking at one object alone? Everybody would feel depressed and lonely. What if playing too much social media can lead you to face this consequence? The trend of people using social media as a tool to know others is dramatically increasing. There are many arguments on whether social media can make people happier. Overall, social media does not make people happier because of the increase in competition, Visiobibliophobia and cyberbullying.

Visiobibliophobia is when people is very addictive to Facebook which they tend to worry about their own Facebook feed and how people would think about their posts. People who are addictive to Facebook tend to open Facebook very frequently and most of the time they do not do any action but only to scroll around looking for other people’s action. (Zaremohzzabieh, 2014). If people play too much social media and start to have Visiobibliophobia, they will most likely have their mind stuck too much in the social media rather than the reality which may lead them to be unhappy. Moreover, if they only worry about their Facebook page and forget about their life in the outside world, they may be isolated by others. This means that when they face a problem, they will hardly have anyone to discuss their issue which may cause their stress level to rise. This is because of the fact that one of the ways to reduce stress is to try to express it by telling the issue that people is facing to others (Wheaton, 1985). It is commonly known that social media is a brand new tool that helps people to know more friends. If people get to know more friends, it will be likely that they will have more people to interact with and may lead them to forget about their worries. The statistics show that there are over 57% of teenagers that meet their friends online (Lenhart, 2015). This means that most of the teenagers today tend to find new friends through social media. It is true to the fact that social media can be a tool people to reduce their stress because there are more people to interact. However, people do not always happy by having many friends. It is very hard to find true friends in social media. We can hardly know each other’s feeling because we can only see what they want to show through picture or text.
