The story Andale Prita, is a memoir by Mexican-American, Yasmín Ramírez from El Paso, Tx that wrote this book to grieve her late grandmother talking about her many life experiences. Throughout the story we can see how the book covers a lot of important and delicate subjects such as violence towards women. Yazmín’s grandmother who she would call “Ita” (short for abuelita, grandma in Spanish) suffered a lot during her lifetime, and violence was one of the many hardships she encountered. Ita was hurt physically by more than one man and more than twice in her life which shows how hard it was for her.

In the speech logos, pathos and ethos are used to make her point proven on how domestic abuse is an important issue and why it need to be spoken about.
“Lisa's Ritual”, a poem, based on a true story, exposes how violence can happen anywhere, anytime and in real life. Throughout the reading there were numerous examples of how violence can occur anywhere. “Lisa’s Ritual” is a poem about a young girl named Lisa who is raped by her father and uses her room as her “safe space”. This poem is one example of many from the reading, where domestic violence, or any type of violence for that matter, can happen in places where you least expect it. Many people do not realize how common sexual violence and trafficking is in today's society.

As I watched the documentary “Road Beyond Abuse,” I experienced a whirlwind of emotions. From disgusted and disappointed to impressed and joyful, I felt it all. It truly disturbed me to hear about the experiences both Michael McCain and Johnnetta McSwain endured. David lives with his mother, father and brothers, but at the end of the book, he feels a strong hatred for his family and a strong hate for the people who knew about the abuse, David also regrets being born and questions if God exists.
